January 2025

What an incredible year it has for Bonney Memorial Library! We’ve seen remarkable growth, with significant increases in our collection, patrons, and programs.

Our operating hours have expanded from 17 to 21 hours a week, and we aim to increase this to 25 hours per week with support from the voters in Cornish in 2025. We've secured several grants, including one for new computers, printers, and equipment to establish remote working areas. Additionally, we received a matching grant for new children's books and have applied for funding for safer, more enjoyable furniture in the children's room, as well as a reliable electronic door opener.

My assistant Cara has been instrumental in managing our Interlibrary Loan Program and assisting at the front desk I oversee children’s programs and library management. Bonney Memorial Library provides various services, including helping patrons access a Portland Public Library card and offering workshops on utilizing "the cloud" for books and materials.

Thanks to the generous donations from McCarthur Public Library in Biddeford we now have comfortable new chairs for the children's room, along with two new couches from friends!

Our volunteers are a tremendous asset, assisting with shelving books, conducting sewing and craft programs, and donating gift baskets for our Annual Raffle, among many other contributions.

I am very grateful to The Bonney Memorial Library Trustees, as none of these significant changes could have occurred without their support.

With assistance from Cristina at Bustle and Grow, we've launched a new website. Be sure to check out our blogs to learn about all the exciting happenings at the library.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 1st, from 10 AM to 1 PM for Bring Your Child to the Library Day! It will be a fun-filled day learning about various countries and cultures through a scavenger hunt, where children can collect stamps to earn prizes!

Thank you all for your support during my first year as Library Director. I look forward to what 2025 will bring!
